Located in sec 6,T9N,R18E, Mount Diablo Meridian. Bounded by the Mokelumne Wilderness on the southeast, 0.8 km (0.5 mi) southeast of Covered Wagon Peak, 1.6 km (1 mi) southwest of Fourth of July Peak and 1.3 km (0.8 mi) northeast of Scout Carcon Lake. (US-T121)
History
Named for Melissa Burton Coray ,(1828-?), who as member of the party of the discharged United States Mormon Batallion group, traveled eastward from the gold fields of Sacramento to the Great Salt Lake in the summer of 1848, establishing the Mormon-Carson Pass Emigrant Trail across the Sierra Nevada.
