History
May have been named for the practice (as early as the 1850's) of calling a difficult undertaking "a Boston" - as crossing the mountains in the days of ox and mule-drawn wagons was a difficult task, or name may have been derived from the French words "bosse" (elevated surface) and "ton" (your).
