Highest peak in Santa Cruz County.
History
Named for Lieutenant William Wrightson, former civil engineer and editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer, who managed the Salero and Santa Rita Mines. The Apache Indians killed him in 1864 near the foot of the mountain. The feature had been called 'Old Baldy' because its top did not have any timber.
