Extends S from the Chuska Mountains and Tsaile Creek to Black Creek about 25 mi WSW of Gallup NM; 361500N1091500W (N end), 352500N1091500W (S end).
History
Named by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1916 for the military post, Fort Defiance, established in 1851. (US-T121)
