Description
Heads in the Alaska Range, at Mystic Pass, flowing NE 15 mi, then NW 60 mi., to join Slow Fork to form the East Fork Kuskokwim River, 30 mi E of Medfra; Kuskokwim Low.
History
The Indian name "Tonzona" was applied in 1899 to the stream now called "Little Tonzona River" by Lieutenant J. S. Herron, USA. A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), traveling nearer the foot of the Alaska Range in 1902 mistakenly applied Herron's name "Tonzona" to this stream. of the name established its present usage.
