Description
Bonasila River is located heads at 625600N1611200W, flows SE to Bonasila Slough, 0.7 mi. W of Elkhorn I. in Yukon River and 27 mi. NW of Holy Cross, Nulato Hills; 125 miles long.
History
Local name shown on a 1916 fieldsheet by R. H. Sargent, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Hrdlicka (1943, p. 50) noted, "Bonasila (buena, good, and silla, seat)-an old Spanish name for these regions* * *". It may be an English form of a native name.
