Local name reported by W. J. Peters and F. C. Schrader, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 1901 as "Sitkun." A. G. Maddren,, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), gives "Sitkum" on his name sheet and Robert Marshall concurs in this spelling.
