West of the confluence of Thirteenmile Creek and New York Creek (mistakenly described by Orth as being on right bank of Little Joe Creek), 10 mi. S of Ruby, Kilbuck-Kuskokwim Mts.

Prospectors' name reported as "The Thumb" by Eakin (1916, pl. 1), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Orth reported the present form of the name in 1956.
