Description

Mount Hubbard is located on Alaska-Canada boundary, 2 mi. S of Mount Alverstone and 59 mi. NW of Yakutat, St. Elias Mts.

History

Named by Russell (1891, p. 99), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 1890 for Gardiner G. Hubbard, 1822-97, founder and first president of the National Geographic Society, which, with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), sponsored Russell's expedition.
