Description
Icy Cape (historical) is located at NW entrance to Icy Bay, 75 mi. NW of Yakutat, Malaspina Coastal Plain.
History
This name appears to be a translation published by US@C&GS in 1868 of the Russian name shown as "M. Ledyanoi", "Icy Cape", by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 7), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). See Icy Bay. This appears to be also the "Punta Olavide" of Captain Alessandro Malaspina in July 22, 1791. See Wagner (1937, p. 479).
