Description
Heads at glacier terminus in British Columbia, Canada, flows southwest across Alaska-Canada boundary, to Taiya Inlet, 0.65 km (0.4 mi) southwest of Skagway.
History
A Tlingit Indian name said to mean "home of the north wind." Aurel and Arthur Krause (1883, map) recorded "Schkague." In 1891 Lieutenant Commander Nichols, U.S. Navy (USN), wrote "Shkagway."
