History
A Tlinglit Indian name reported in 1868 by Commander Meade, U.S. Navy (USN), as Tyya and Tya; published in 1870 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) on Chart 701. Aurel and Arthur Krause (1883 map) reported the name as Dejah Inlet, and in 1883 Lieutenant Schwatka, USA, called it Dayay Inlet.
