History
Named Hills Island in 1787 by Captain N. Portlock for Robert Hill, one of his traders (Wagner, 1937,p. 462). The name was published as Hill Island by US@C&GS in 1883 Coast Pilot (p.183). Hill Island Light is on the south end of the island.
