History
Local name reported in 1901 by A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). "This is the place where gold was first discovered in the Dolomi region. The discovery was made by Paul Johnson, an Indian boy, who first found the bright particles of gold on the shore of the lake" (Brooks, 1902, p. 84).
