Named in 1935 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). See Salt Chuck, village. In 1952U.S. Forest Service (USFS)called it Chuck Forward Lake for Charles Forward, U.S. Forest Service (USFS), who worked 25 years in Alaska. The new name, however, did not become popular.
