Description
Baker Island is located between Bucareli Bay and Pacific Ocean, Alex. Arch. 15 miles long.
History
Named in 1879 by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), "after Marcus Baker, 1849-1903." See Baker Glacier. Baker (1906, p. 113) says "Professor George Davidson identifies this island as the landfall of Chirikof, July 15, 1741."
