History
named in 1897 by Lieutenant Commander J. F. Moser, U.S. Navy (USN). called "Punta Almejas" meaning "point of the clams" on Francisco Antonio Maurelle and Don Juan de la Bodega y Quardra's chart (in La Perouse, 1798, pl. 26).
