Description

Nakmaktuak Pass is located between Noatak River (Nushralutak Creek) and Kobuk River (Ambler River) drainages, Brooks Range

History

Named by Orth in 1956 and derived from the Eskimo name for the Ambler River. The name means "backpacking place" and refers in a sense to a "pass or to a short-cut." The name appears to be similar to Natmotirak (Creek).
