Description

Flows S to Maybe Creek about 30 mi upstream from its mouth, 21 mi. E of head of Kpikpuk River, Arctic Slope. 11 miles long.

History

Eskimo name (anaq) meaning "excrement," and generally referring to animal dung as a sign for hunting purposes. The name was reported in 1956 by T. E. Taylor, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
