N of Kayak Mtn., 6.5 mi. NW of junction of May Creek and Nanushuk River, 52 mi. NE of Anaktuvuk Pass, Arctic Slope.

Eskimo name obtained at Anaktuvuk Pass and reported in 1956 by T. E. Taylor, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS); it may mean new ice.
