Description
Pingolee Island is located in Plover Is., Arctic Plain.
History
Eskimo name, probably more correctly rendered "Pingolik" and meaning "having mound." The name first appears on British Admiralty (Brit. Adm.) Chart 593, 1827-55, but the island has not been identified on present-day maps.
