Description
Plover Islands is located on Beaufort Sea coast, extend SE from Plover Point to Mackay Inlet, Arctic Plain.
History
Named "Plovers Group" in 1850 by Commander Thomas E. L. Moore, R,N, after his ship, His (Her) Majesty's Ship (HMS) Plover, and originally applied to the islands NW of Ekilukruak Entrance (Leffingwell, 1919, p. 77).
