Description

Howe Island is located in Sagavanirktok River Delta, on Beaufort Sea coast, 29 mi. SE of Beechey Point, Arctic Plain. 1.3 miles long.

History

Named by Leffingwell (1919, p. 96), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for Dr. George P. Howe of the Anglo-American Polar Expedition, 1906-07.
