Local name reported in 1942 by Army Map Service (AMS). Ugashik Lakes in 1903 by G. C. Martin (1905, pl. 6), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Upper Ugashik Lake is shown separately on a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) map published in 1956.
