Description
Located in marshy area 7.2 km (4.5 mi) W of confluence of Yentna River and Johnson Creek, 21 km (13 mi) WSW of Mount Yenlo, 84 km (52 mi) WSW of Talkeetna.
History
A proposal was submitted to name this feature Johnson Lake in April 1994; the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN) rejected the proposal in September 1996, based on local opinion and the recommendation of the Alaska Board, in favor of the name Freedom Lake.
