Description
Aniakchak River is located on Alaska Peninsula, heads in Surprise Lake, in Aniakchak Crater, flows SE to Aniakchak Bay, 11.5 mi. W of Cape Kunmik, Aleutian Range; 27 miles long.
History
Local name reported by Smith and Baker (1924, p. 155), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). They referred to the river as "the largest stream on the (Alaska) peninsula flowing toward the Pacific Ocean."
