Description
Ivanof Bay is located on S coast of Alaska Peninsula, 6 mi. E of Stepovak Bay and 28 mi. SW of Ivan Bay, Aleutian Range. 2 miles wide.
History
Named by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), in 1880. Kupreanof Point, 17 mi. to the south, was called "Cape Ivanofsky" or "John's Cape," by Captain Lutke (1836, p. 269), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). The name "Ivanoff Bay" was published in 1888 on U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) charts
