Katmai Canyon is located on Alaska Peninsula, extends 5 mi. along course of Katmai River, between Mount Katmai and Barrier Range, in Katmai National Monument, Aleutian Range

Named in 1936 by R. F. Griggs, National Geographic Society, after Katmai Bay.
