One of the Semidi Islands, 2 miles southwest of the south tip of Chowiet Island, Aleutian Range.
History
Name translated from the Russian "O(strov) Yuzhniy," published by the Russian Hydrographic Dept. in 1847. Also shown in French "I(le) du Sud" by Admiral von Krusenstern (1827, map 20), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
