Description
Alligator Island is located in Shelikof Strait, 33 mi. N of Afognak; Kodiak I. 0.2 mile wide.
History
so named in 1926 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), "from the (island's) resemblance (to an alligator) from certain directions."
