History
Name published in 1899 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS); originally named "New Eddystone Point" by Captain George Vancouver, Royal Navy (RN), August 9, 1793, "for a supposed resemblance to Eddystone (lighthouse off the coast of Cornwall) in England * * * (Wagner, 1937, p. 399-400).
