In Thorne Arm near Revillagigedo Channel, at the southwest entrance to Boca de Quadra, 2.5 miles east of Bold Island and 14.9 miles southeast of Ketchikan Coast Mountains. (AK-T1) , .
History
Discovered and named in the 1920's by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) wHile conducting underwater sweeping operations in coastal waters for the purpose of charting navigational hazards. This feature was named because of its resemblance to the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., and "reached within 17 feet of the surface in general depths of 650 feet" (Wraight and Roberts, 1957, p. 33-34).
