Located 11 km (7 mi) northeast of Seward and 4 km (2.5 mi) east of Bear Lake.
History
"Tiehacker" is a nickname for locals who fashioned railroad ties from trees as a source of winter income during the construction of the Alaska Railroad in the early 1900's.
