Description
Hesketh Island is located on S shore of Kachemak Bay, Kenai Peninsula, 0.5 mi. SW of Yukon I. and 8 mi. SW of Seldovia, Chugach Mts. 1.2 miles long.
History
Named by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), in 1880, for Sir Thomas Hesketh "who in his yacht, the Lancashire Witch, visited Cook Inlet in 1880."
