Description
Coal Point is located on SE tip of Homer Spit, in Kachemak Bay, on Kenai Peninsula, 5 mi. SE of Homer; Cook Inlet Low.
History
this is an 1881 translation by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) of the name "Mys Ugolnoy," or "coal cape," that was published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 5), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
