Description
Peterson Creek is located heads on Auke Mtn. and flows NW to Salt Lake, 0.3 mi. NW of Dotsons Landing and 19 mi. NW of Juneau.
History
Named for John G. Peterson, 1861-1916, a Juneau businessman and miner. In 1899 he staked a claim on the creek which he called Cheechako Creek. Later it became known as Peterson Creek (DeArmond, 1957, p. 35).
