Description
Slocum Inlet is located on E shore of Stephens Passage, 5 mi. N of Taku Harbor and 17 mi. SE of Juneau, Coast Mts.
History
Named in 1888 by Lieutenant Commander C. M. Thomas, U.S. Navy (USN), for Ensign George Ralph Slocum, U.S. Navy (USN), a member of his party. The name was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1891 Coast Pilot (p. 149).
