Admiralty Island is located from Point Gardner on Frederick Sound to Point Retreat on Lynn Canal, 9 mi. S of Juneau; Alex. Arch.
History
named in 1794 by Captain Vancouver (1798, v. 3, p. 276), RN. Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 8), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), published the Russian name "O(strov) Kutsnoi" meaning "fear island."
