Description
Pleasant Island is located in Icy Strait, 0.3 mi. SE of Gustavus and 44 mi. W of Juneau, St. Elias Mts.
History
Named in 1879 by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), because of its "pleasant shore." The name was published in the 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 203).
