Description
Green Point is located at N entrance to Pyramid Harbor, in Chilkat Inlet, 1 mi. SW of Pyramid I. and 20 mi. SW of Skagway, St. Elias Mts.
History
Named "M(ys) Zelenoi" meaning "green cape" by Captain Lindenberg in 1838 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1838. It was called Indian Point in 1869 by Commander Meade, U.S. Navy. It is the Pyramid Point of Captain Beardslee, U.S. Navy (USN), which name was given in 1880 and was published by US@C&GS in the 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 197).
