Protection Point is located on E coast of Nushagak Peninsula, between Bristol and Nushagak Bays, 39 mi. SW of Dillingham; Bristol Bay Low.
History
name given as "M(ys) Povorotnoi," meaning "Turn Point," by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map ), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), because the coast line turns at this point.
