Description

Located in Denali National Park, along Stony Creek, 4.2 mi. NE of Eielson Visitor Center, Alaska Range. 0.4 mile long.

History

Local name reported in 1954 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The lake formed in 1953 as a result of a deluge, an earthquake, and a landslide that blocked the channel of Stony Creek. The lake drained out in 1988 and is now a dry lake bed interspersed with channels.
