History
Indian name reported in 1902 by F. C. Schrader, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). According to Moffit (1941, p. 137), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the name is "derived from Indian words meaning "red stone" and is appropriate, as the rocks of this appearance are readily traced from the north side of the Totschunda Creek valley to Suslota Creek."
