Description

Kotsina River is located heads at glacier at about 614600N1434500W, flows SW 42 mi. to Copper River, 2 mi. NE of Chitina and 67 mi. NE of Valdez; Copper River Basin.

History

Ahtena Indian name meaning "coal river (kho-tsi-tns)," spelled Katz-zelena and Katselena in 1898 by Captain W. R. Abercrombie, USA. W. J. Peters, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), used the Kotsina spelling on an 1899 fieldsheet.
