History
Named for G. A. Izmaylov (Izmailov), who served as co-commander of the Russian vellel "Three Saints" and in 1788 with Dmitrii Ivanovich Bocharov, explored the shore of the Gulf of Alaska from the Kenai Peninsula to Lituya Bay.
