Description

Baker Glacier is located trends S to its terminus at head of stream which drains into Surprise Inlet, 6.5 mi. W of Point Doran and 52 mi. SE of Anchorage, Chugach Mts. 2 miles long.

History

Named in 1910 by U. S. Grant, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for Marcus Baker, 1849-1903, cartographer with U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and author of the "Dictionary of Alaska."
