Heads at the junction of Gemuk River and Chikululnuk Creek, flows NE 30 mi to Holitna River, 64 mi SW of Sleetmute, Kilbuck-Kuskokwim Mountains. Connected by Bering Strait with Bering Sea on S.

Eskimo name written "Chuck-a-won-ugh-toly" on a manuscript map by W. R. Buckman, who prospeted in this area in 1902-03.
