History
Named in honor of those individuals who were prisoners of war (POW) or determined to be missing in action (MIA) as a result of wars in which the United States has been involved. In 1999, a U.S. Marine veteran climbed the feature and placed a POW/MIA flag at its summit. When facing the Veterans' Wall of Honor memorial, located along the Old Glenn Highway approximately 4.8 km (3 mi) NNE of the summit, Mount POW/MIA is located between the United States flag and the POW/MIA flag.
