Description
Lake Spenard is located at head of Hood Canal, 3.1 mi. SW of Anchorage, Cook Inlet Low.
History
Originally known as Jeter Lake after Thomas Jeter, homesteader. Renamed in 1916 by Joseph A. Spenard, who homesteaded 160 acres including the lake, where he planned to develop a summer resort. The Anchorage Times reported the name on August 24, 1916. (Alaska Sportsman, 2/1958)
