Description
Conical Volcano is located on Cape Potainikof, 6.5 mi. NE of Cape Korvoin, on NW coast of Atka I.; Aleutian Islands.
History
descriptive name from the Russian "Konicheskaya Sopka," or "cone-shaped volcano," so called by Ingenstrem in 1829 and by Ivan Chernov in 1832; published in 1848 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1400. by Coats (1950, p. 39) U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
